Planning commission’s affidavit to the Supreme Court states that the poverty line for an urban person is Rs32 and rural it is Rs29 per person per day. In simple words if you are spending more than Rs32 per day then you are not poor. In current scenario where food prices are on its peak and there is no sign of inflation being in control, Govt’s claim is ridiculous – where can a person find 2 meals with amount, leave apart the healthy and nutrient diet. There are only two classes that spends less than Rs32 on food otherwise you don’t get anything in Rs32 not even 1 litre of milk.
